Usually made with whole fruit and/or vegetables they are full of vitamins and minerals as well as often having a high fibre content. They also usually have ice added to the mix or include some frozen ingredients to make them a cool and refreshing beverage. Many recipes are packed with antioxidants and can really be a great health booster.

If you asked most people to describe one they would probably talk about fruit and often mention some kind of creamy milk or yoghurt based drink, but they are so much more than that.
